Support

The questions we get asked most often, with short answers.

Last updated: 25 September 2026

Here you will find answers to the most common questions. If that is not enough, write to us: we reply to everyone.

Getting started

How do I create an account

Open app.4orizon.eu and choose to sign up. You need a username, a password and a valid email address, to which we will send a six-digit verification code.

Do I need a phone number

No. Orizon neither asks for nor stores your number.

Are there rules for the username

Lowercase letters, digits and the characters dot, hyphen and underscore are allowed. Capital letters are not. The username cannot be changed once it has been created.

Security

Verifying a device

When you sign in from a new device, you will be asked to verify it by comparing a sequence of emoji with a device that is already active. It is the step that guarantees nobody has slipped into the conversation: it is really worth doing.

I lost my password

You can reset it from the sign-in screen, through the email address linked to your account.

Careful: resetting your password does not recover your encryption keys. If you have not enabled key backup, earlier messages will stay unreadable.

Enabling key backup

From the security settings in the app. You will be shown a recovery phrase: keep it in a password manager or somewhere safe. It is the only way to reopen old conversations on a new device.

Your data

Exporting conversations

From the settings of each room you can export its history in a readable format. For a complete copy of your account data, write to privacy@4orizon.eu.

Deleting your account

From the app settings, or by writing to info@4orizon.eu. It cannot be undone. You will find every detail on the page about deleting your account.

Apps

Are there apps

Partly. For Linux computers there is the .deb package, which you will find on the Download page. The Android app is in closed testing: if you want to try it, write to info@4orizon.eu. The iOS one is in the works.

In the meantime, on your phone Orizon is used from the browser and can be added to the home screen as an app.
